Challenge: Your Labor Day Burgers Can’t Top This One

1 Sep

Sliced cheddar, bacon, BBQ sauce, lettuce, blue cheese, fried onions, jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, mayo…what do all of these things have in common? BURGER TOPPINGS bia’s!!!

So we’re rounding out the Summer this weekend and for those of you who won’t be feeling the effects of Hurricane Earl, you’ll probably be attending a BBQ or ten. If you’re anything like me you’ll make a beeline for the burgers with or without cheese, who cares?

Earlier this Summer I was lucky enough to take a business trip with some of my faves (D, Fatman, R, M_M, RW, MCP, PFR, sadly no Kteb) to Vegas. The conference we attended was in Caesar’s Palace and there was a new restaurant in the casino called Munch Bar (Check out their menu).  The restaurant itself was cute, metal chairs with metal tables and the walls had graffiti all over them. So we found out about this place because RW said it was a good beer bar – well he wasn’t kidding. We started our meals off with two pitchers of great beer (Deschutes Mirror Pond Oregon Pale Ale) and grilled cheese minis. You read that right MINI GRILLED CHEESE sandwiches.

And they were just the beginning to what would be possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. I decided to go with the blue cheese, bacon, sauteed mushroom burger and behold…

Burger Awesomesauce

I know the picture doesn’t do it justice, but this burger speaks for itself. I couldn’t even  finish it and that is NOT like me (D was a witness he’ll tell you I tried my hardest). The burger was cooked perfectly, the cheese was stacked on top with the mushrooms and bacon on the bottom. It didn’t even need condiments – what burger doesn’t need condiments???

Here’s hoping your Labor Day burgers are half as good as this one was and that the company surrounding you this weekend is as great as mine was that night (missing Kteb though – sniffle).

P.S. the fries were also delicious, as if there were ever any doubt!

I can confirm the flat-out awesomeness of the Munch burgers. I can also confirm that I ate there no less than 6 times that week. Also, I don’t think Cdog said a single word other than “This is so f-in good” for 45 minutes.
